The Affordability Period is the time that is required by HUD to keep and maintain the property as available and affordable for low to moderate, middle income families. 

The following time periods are required based on the amount of down payment assistance provided:

Assistance Amount Lien/>Affordability Period

under $15,000                                  5 years
$15,001 - $40,000                            10 years
$40,001 - $50,000                            15 years

If the homeowner maintains the property as their primary residence during the period by the County.

If the homeowner choses to vacate the property as a primary residence or to transfer the deed during the affordability period , the County will recover the amount of down payment assistance provided the homeowner.
